Need help?computer problems

  • Check out our FREE Saturday Morning Shop Talk sessions.

  • Find FREE tech support on the internet. The Computer 911 page provides links to web based help sites. Each link includes a description, so that you can decide before you connect whether the web site might be of help.

  • Would you like (or do you need) more than just a statement of how to solve your problem? How about a FREE video? The Free Tutorials page has many links to tutorials, many of them videos, and most of them are free. Here again, each link includes a description.

  • Computer security resources that you may find helpful:

    On the The National Cyber Security Alliance website, staysafeonline.org, there are free resources to help computer users, parents and grandparents to stay safe online and protect their children, as well.

    Here are two more free resources:

    • Free Security Check-Ups

      Many computer security vendors offer free computer security checks for your computer. Connect to Free Security Check-ups for a list of links that can check your computer for known viruses, spyware, and more and discover if your computer is vulnerable to cyber attacks.

    • NCSAM Tip Sheets

      The NCSA has developed a series of Tip Sheets to provide in-depth information on how to stay safe in a variety of online settings: on social networking sites, on gaming sites, and on your mobile device. They are free of charge.

  • Check out the Software Resources page. There is an astonishing array of free and reliable software applications available. This page provides links to, and descriptions of, a number of applications, plus links (again with descriptions) to web sites with many more choices.

  • The internet is a great resource. It can be a little overwhelming at times, so examine the Knowledge Resources page. Here you will find links (with descriptions, of course) on specific topics such as (for example) Astronomy, Genealogy and Law; to a free online encyclopedia; to internet security and much more.

  • The Book and Software Reviews page can help you choose software and books that will make your use of the computer much more pleasant. Use this page together with the Library page, which provides a list of books in the FRPCUG library.

  • If you are looking for information on local computer retailers, connect to the Hardware Resources page. FRPCUG doesn't have a lot of feedback on any of the computer shops in Fort Collins. However, the feedback on those listed on this page is mostly positive.
